In light of MJ’s death, you’re obviously going to see some of his great accomplishments and some of the sad ridiculous things he’s done.  Let’s not lose sight that this was a troubled, but great human being who brought pleasure to most of our lives.  Once again, a person who was a victim of his environment.  The most profound thing I ever heard him say was in an interview on TV after debuting yet another smash hit album, the interviewer asked, “How is it that you seem to keep out-doing yourself every time?  Just when everyone thinks you can’t possibly sell more albums, or get any better, you seem to just smash to pieces what you did last and come out with something even greater!”  His response:  “It’s just that I can never please myself.  No matter what I do or what I create, I always feel that I could have done more.  And I just pour that emotion into my next project.”  Imagine if we poured that same passion into our athletics?
